SMFR General Discussion Posting Guidelines

BEFORE POSTING, READ THESE GUIDELINES:

1.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW CHARACTERS. The roster of Mario and Peach are set in stone until the game is completed.

2.) NO LEVEL SUGGESTIONS TOPICS. We are currently not taking any level suggestions. However, you are free to make levels to your liking with the provided public S.A.U.C.E. You can even contribute levels to the game itself if you follow our guidelines and the level fits nicely in an empty slot.

3.) The only gimmick we will feature prominently in Super Mario Fusion Revival are vehicles/mounts. We will not add any more gimmicks, like the commonly suggested Yoshi Egg abilities and a wall jump for Mario.

4. DO NOT POST BUG REPORTS HERE. The SMFR Bug Tracker is where all bug reports and issues should be posted, except for S.A.U.C.E. bugs at this time.

Any post that contains any of these things will be binned on sight.

Confirming character roster

I forget the topic, but JS posted a link to SMF:R's Wiki page and it still lists Toad and Waluigi as playable characters. I thought the Wiki page might just have been outdated, but it also mentions Peach being available in 0.4. So did someone just forget to remove Toad and Waluigi?

We added Toad and Waluigi back to the roster. Back when were were planning to make all characters different in terms of physics, we cut those two out of the roster. When we decided to make all characters the same except for their special jumps and Hammer suits, we added Waluigi and Toad back on the roster.

Mario and Peach will remain the only two playables until we finish the game. We plan to start on Waluigi as soon as the game's levels are completed.

I wasn't entirely clear on this myself.  It's good to know, now.

Wario is in. The roster has 6 characters again. Mario and Peach are playable. Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, and Toad will come as post-release content

Basically, for the sake of putting the game's infastructure intact before we work on the roster, I'm glad it's just going to be Mario and Peach until we complete this entire game.

I know it's a little far since they're post-release content, but I was wondering if you guys had any thoughts of revamping Wario's sprites, as originally Peach's sprites were SMB3, but then changed to Super Mario Advance (I think) in Antshield's rendition.

If so, maybe you consider using Wario's Wario Land 2/3 sprites? They work a lot better with the simple SMAS style you guys are using... They use the same outlining styles (unlike WL4 and SMW), and the height and width match up well too (slightly taller and fatter than Mario, but shorter than Luigi). If coloring and suits are a concern, I already have a sprite sheet that colors his sprites (with an SMAS palette), adds specific ones for Fusion, and also some suits (I just recently added Sledge [Hammer] Wario and Lobster [Frog] Wario to the sheet for references):

Well the main problem is that the MKF sprites are a different size... and they already have most of the different power-ups done. I've done a lot of work on the latter though since then and made a vast number of changes so that should be even less of a hurdle now:

As been mentioned before, it will be just Mario and Peach who are playable until the main game is done. The other characters will come as post-final content.
