If you haven't heard yet, Jay Pavlina, the creator of Super Mario Bros. Crossover, is making a new game called Super Retro Squad. It'll use the same engine as SMBC, but with entirely new characters, graphics, and sound rather than copyrighted material. It'll also have things SMBC never had (and probably never will), like a story mode, vertical scrolling, and other things far beyond the scope of the original Super Mario Bros. It's currently in its Kickstarter phase, and if it gets up to $40,000, the game will feature an extra character and an extra world, with an accordingly expanded story mode. And if it gets up to $50,000, the entire development will be recorded by a professional documentary team. The link to the Kickstarter page is below, with videos providing more info.
