How can I forget to mention this?

With the addition of Peach as a playable character, we are externalizing all player sprites. This means you can make your own skin mods for SMF:R, as you can with MKF.

There are no plans to make Yoshi skinnable. Why? Yoshi is stored internally as separate head and body sprites. Each of the parts' alignments are hard coded into the game, meaning the head is attached to the body at specific frames in each animation. Additionally, each different head and body sprite has its own corresponding color mask sprite so that the game can change the color of Yoshi on the fly. That means each animation frame is composed of a specifically hard-code-aligned head and body, each with their own color masks, for a total of four sprites per Yoshi animation frame. It will be supremely complicated to explain how to make these color masks for the head and body sprites.

The skin mods will effect cutscenes as well just as it will in MKF, right?

Eh? This is news to me. I thought in cutscenes for MKF they'd only show the default characters regardless of skins.

These are some skin ideas/suggestions I had (Most of these are pretty odd and/or random. Don't mind me):

Mario
- Retro/Super Show Mario
- Classic/8-bit Mario

Luigi
- Retro/Super Show/Mama Luigi
- Classic/8-bit Luigi

Wario
- Thief Wario (AKA The Purple Wind)
- Plumber's Academy (Based on the Wario look-alike that appeared in said episode of The Super Mario Bros Super Show)

Peach
- White Mage Peach (It'd be better if someone had the sprites from the old forum)
- Daisy
- Rosalina
- Classic/8-bit Peach
- Any of Peach's alt outfits (Sport/Tennis, biker, striker, gymnast, winter, etc)

If you have any other idea, feel free to tell.

While we will have skin support, it will not be guaranteed for v0.4, as it requires a routine that loads external graphic files to be made in order to support skinning.

If skinning support does not come for v0.4, it will come for a future version.

Will this be true of all vehicles?

I think so. However, I don't recall the tank or the chocobo being as graphically complex as Yoshi (though the chocobo will probably get color masks, too).
