MKF General Discussion Posting Guidelines

1.) READ THE FAQ BEFORE POSTING. If you have a question about MKF in general, chances are it is answered in the FAQ.

2.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW CHARACTERS. MKF already has so many characters planned, plus a whole lot more that are unfinished.

3.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW ENEMIES. As of July 2010, the MKF Dev team is focused on getting the game done, not adding any more unnecessary extra enemies.

4.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW GAME FEATURES. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO: POWER-UPS, SUITS, LEVELS, AND GAME MODES. As noted above, the team is focused on getting the game done.

5.) DO NOT POST BUG REPORTS HERE. The MKF Bug Tracker is the place to do so.

6.)DO NOT ASK ABOUT RELEASE DATES FOR THE NEXT VERSION. We do not give out release dates. Why? If we announce a date and we miss it, people will get disappointed. New versions will be released as they get done.

Any post that contains any of these things will be binned on sight.

Unable to start the game
« on: May 26, 2012, 04:45:47 PM »
I have downloaded the game and extracted its contents to a new folder, but the game won't start. I receive the error that is shown in the FAQs section. I used Winrar to extract the files. Can you please give me step by step instructions or a video on what to do to make the game work using Winrar? Thank you

Hello 77thedragonlord, and welcome to the forums!

Are you sure you downloaded all the files? There are 4 .rar files you need to extract files from.

Hello, there's a screenshot of what the folder where you're installing the game should look like, that should be enough.

1- Download an extract this file in a new folder:

2- Create a new folder named "music" in the folder where you unzipped the first file.

3- Download and extract these two files in the "music" folder.

I already had all the files extracted apparantly, and the results look exactly like the results on the website, but for the 4 .rar files, is there a specific place where I am suppose to extract the files or do I just need to give the folder a specific name? Sorry if I am posting too much for this issue, I just don't understand how the game won't work, yet I seemed to do everything right. By the way, I have a Windows XP. Thank you for taking the time to perhaps solve this issue.

What 4 .rar files???? There are only three

Also it would be so MUCH easier if you posted a screenshot of the folder where you installed the game.

There is no specific place all the files have to be, as long as they're in a folder together like this:

The only thing that does have to be in a specific folder are the music files which should be in the music folder. Otherwise, everything just has to be in a folder like the picture above.

Oh, you're right, sorry. I accidentally mistook the FAQ link as a link to a .rar :coy:

I just found out that I could play the game all along, I just had to click on the block thing in Winrar. I tried to drag the block to the desktop, but the game wouldn't work there. It would be nice though if your games were allowed to be play from your desktop. Thank you for trying to help me.

That's why you follow the FAQ's directions carefully. It's put there for the reason that people ask the team this same question and other questions continually.

Also, you never run a EXE file by itself when it requires other files to run. That's basic computer knowledge, not something specific to running our games.

More like you need to take a class where they teach you how to use the basic functions of a computer or something <_<

You don't move executables to the desktop, you're supposed to right click them, click the option to create a quick access shortcut, and then move the shortcut to the desktop, not the executable itself. Thousands of programs won't work if you move the executable and then try to run it from there.
