Here's a hypothetical example of FMOD looping music:

Code: [Select]
new_music = FMODSoundAdd("music/boss.ogg")
FMODSoundSetLoopPoints(new_music, ((120.00-107.00)/120.00), 1);
boss_music = FMODSoundLoop(new_music)

The boss music above is 120 seconds long. It plays from start to finish one time, and then loops between 13 seconds and 120 seconds from then on.

Also, would anyone here who knows GM well know how to get multiple tile layers in one calling of tile_layer_find()? I need to get multiple tile layers so that Subspace will work correctly. I've tried for loops but I can't seem to get it right.
I don't think you can do that. tile_layer_find() only finds one tile at a specific location with a specific depth and returns its id.

Here's a hypothetical example of FMOD looping music:

He needs to know how to find the loop points in the first place, not an example of looping.

Thanks Fusionist. Another quick question: how do you convert the start and end times to samples? Do I need to click the drop-down box and change all the times to show only samples, or do something else entirely?

Also, I just changed all the tiles to one layer and that seems to have fixed the tile error in Subspace. Work on it is going quite smooth now.

D'oh, I forgot about the samples option.

Use "samples" instead of "hh:mm:ss + samples".

Thanks Fusionist, sorry for the late feedback. I think I got it down, but just in case I have more questions I'll send you a PM in the future.

Update:

Subspace is working almost perfectly now. It was a bit difficult getting it to work the way I need it to, but for me, it seems to be working just about right. Here are some screenshots:

Just really quick: I know that in SMB2, Mario, the door, and the mushroom were all normal looking in Subspace, but I was having too much trouble getting that right and I'd much rather it work like this rather than struggle for another 4+ hours trying to sort out object depths and other unexpected trouble :P I just went ahead and made the mushroom more visible so that the player can find it easier. If the purple is too solid, let me know and I'll adjust it to be more transparent.

Also, I'm using this for the music that plays in Subspace:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feoYJwnJkfM

I'm using this one because I always imagined Subspace as like a mini-dream world inside a dream world (dream-ception :O ) and it's kind of a mysterious zone, especially the fact that it only lasts a few seconds before vanishing and waking you up from your inside dream. Also, it's impossible to die in Subspace in this game. If you fall off a ledge, you'll instantly exit Subspace as though you went back through the door.

I'll make plans to have an updated engine test up in a couple days, with Subspace, a few small bug-fixes to some enemies, and some new giant-land enemies.

It's looking better and better.

I would offer some advice, but I'm just getting back to working on FOD.

Thanks guys. I got a new engine update for everyone:
http://www.mediafire.com/?fxj0oyvo58z2tgf
alternatively:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/vsq3hj

What's new?

+A logo for when the game is first initiated (takes up the "Logo Under construction" room)
+Subspace from SMB2
+smoother animation for small Mario's, Luigi's, and Toad's walking sprites (Toad's walking sprite needs a slight edit, but nothing big)
+full swim animation for all playable characters
+New giant enemies
+Some bug-fixes with other enemies
+The Hammer Bros throw their hammers more like they did in SMB1 (Hammer Bro not included in the test)
+Some other small bug-fixes that I forgot lol
+Waluigi's Magikoopa suit (fire-flower) has been replaced by Tennis Waluigi (greenish overalls and white shirt.)
+Fixed a bug with entering doors

Just a small update, this one, but I want to know how it works for everyone.

I still need some suggestions for Waluigi's physics. Please leave a comment/suggestion.
And don't forget to post bugs you may find :P

Waluigi could be a bit faster given that he's the tallest character so far. Another thing that you could add is Wario's charge attack.

Overall, the game's looking great so far.

Actually, Waluigi is the fastest character right now, and Wario does have his charge attack lol :P Did you press F1 to see the controls? It doesn't mention Waluigi's speed but it lists Wario's ground pound and charge attack.

And minor change of subject: Did you or anyone else have a chance to try out Subspace? It's in the "SMB2 Mechanics" level. And What about Waluigi's powerups? I'm worried about them so I need some feedback on them as well.

I still think Super Duper Mario Bros is a nice and funny name. If you want I can sprite a logo based on the one for New Super Mario Bros.

Thanks Brian, but I got a decent font set up. If I change my mind, I'll give you a shout ^^

Also, New engine update for everpony:
http://www.mediafire.com/?4a777471ygawf2h
Alternatively:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/3983l4

This update includes a few more bug-fixes, but the biggest addition here is the SMB2 bosses (minus Wart) are coded and ready for testing.

Please report any bug-findings you make.

Also, I'm still accepting ideas for Toad's special jump. The charge jump from SMB2 has been suggested (by DeeY on MFGG), but more suggestions/ideas are greatly welcome

I second this suggestion. It really seems to be the option that makes the most sense.

Me too. SMB2 was, after all, Toad's playable debut.
