Fangame Showcase Posting Guidelines

BEFORE POSTING, READ THESE GUIDELINES:

The Fangame Showcase board is for fangames that have significant progress, which means at least one of the following:

*Screenshots and/or videos.

*Playable demos of the game (no engine tests)


Also, if you find fangames made by others, feel free to post them here!



For fangame ideas and development discussion, help, and recruitment, please post over at the Game Development and Ideas Discussion board.

Any post on this board for fangames that do not have sufficient progress will be moved to that board.

I like how you took the original story of Super Mario Brothers and made the opening cut scene around it. It looks really nice ^D^
My characters have no relation to Veggie Tales... just because some of them lack limbs does not mean they are related, inspired by, or knockoffs of Veggie Tales.

And lol I forgot about Radonkel, actually :P I might do that, but if I can I'll think of something else to differentiate the battle from SMFR's version.

I've recently had a large wave of inspiration and so I've been working hard on the demo. Here's some screenies of the chapter 1 demo:
this is the demo selection screen. In the full version, these images will be replaced by a "Chapter Cover" and a chapter title.

This is the character selection menu. You'll have the option of choosing a different character each time you die or beat a level (like in SMB2). Later, you'll be able to choose more characters. Once you get to the map screen, this character selection screen will be void and you'll be able to change characters on the map.

The chapter 1 demo will have two mini-levels 4 levels to try out. Here are the level previews:

I have changed the midway gates to midway flags (from SM3D Land and SMG2). Here are what they look like:

Changed the Ace Coins to Star Medals (sprites by DeeY). They will unlock secret levels in the full version. (but in this demo they will unlock short demo levels from a couple other chapters)

This is one of the biggest additions/changes: I decided a few weeks ago to change Mario's special jump from a spin-stomp to wall-jump.

UPDATE: I've changed my mind on some parts of this; the chapter one demo will be the longest (4 levels) and the unlockable demos will be shorter.

Hey I need to know which one of these two remixes of the SMB2 theme sound better (in your opinion). I like them both very much, but I can obviously only choose one :P

I finished the level-designs for chapter 1's demo (no spoilers included) and I'm working on chapter 4's level designs for the demo (no story spoilers here either), which will be a bit longer, level-length-wise. After I'm done with chapter 2's level design, I'll release a playable demo for everypony to play ^^

Does anyone know when NCFC 2012 is? I'd like to submit this if I can.

NCFC began around October 23 last year.  It will probably be around that time this year as well.

That Bowser battle looks too easy. Make him throw hammers or is it just the first time the player faces Bowser?

Either way, the screenshots look pretty sweet.

Looks like that Bowser is the first World Boss, so that explains it.

That is indeed the first world boss. False Bowser will appear a couple more times, but he won't be the only boss you'll face in chapter 1; I'll try to think of other ways to make him more challenging later on in the game.

And since I'm here, I'll announce that the SML1 demo is scrapped and the SMB2 demo has been extended. It originally had only 3 rooms, but now it has 6, which includes a battle against Birdo. I'm also slightly, ever so slightly considering the idea of making the SMB1 demo longer as well to make up for this. What'chall think of this idea?

I think it is a good Idea personally, just not too far of an extension so as to not spoil too much  :lol:
