MKF General Discussion Posting Guidelines

1.) READ THE FAQ BEFORE POSTING. If you have a question about MKF in general, chances are it is answered in the FAQ.

2.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW CHARACTERS. MKF already has so many characters planned, plus a whole lot more that are unfinished.

3.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW ENEMIES. As of July 2010, the MKF Dev team is focused on getting the game done, not adding any more unnecessary extra enemies.

4.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW GAME FEATURES. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO: POWER-UPS, SUITS, LEVELS, AND GAME MODES. As noted above, the team is focused on getting the game done.

5.) DO NOT POST BUG REPORTS HERE. The MKF Bug Tracker is the place to do so.

6.)DO NOT ASK ABOUT RELEASE DATES FOR THE NEXT VERSION. We do not give out release dates. Why? If we announce a date and we miss it, people will get disappointed. New versions will be released as they get done.

Any post that contains any of these things will be binned on sight.

Shouldn't this thread be in the General Discussion thread in the MKF section? Unless you came here with suggestions about which game you want to post an LP on?

Moved it.

I'd like to give a review but I've got class in 8 minutes.

Hmm...
I'm going to be honest here. Your LP started out alright, but lately... the best way I can describe a few of your more recent episodes have been a bit... frustrating to watch. You happen to have a very direct playstyle- you seem to prefer to go straight from point A to point B, with little regard for anything in between. I think the matter with the key in the third room of Dire Dire Docks is a prime example of this- you saw a key, you saw a keyhole, and you automatically connected the two- you spent like three lives trying to figure out why the two weren't working together before you finally jumped into the water and realized there were other variables involved. Same with the fight against Dive Man- I was watching you attempt to dodge his homing torpedoes, wondering why you never tried simply shooting at them.

I think I might have said it before in your other topic, but you just need to slow down a bit. You'd get more extra lives if you take a little extra time to collect coins or check suspicious areas for hidden 1up blocks. Levels with time limits usually have plenty of time on the clock, they're not going to give you a problem unless you're being exceptionally slow, there's no need to be in a hurry. Also, I should warn you- there's a number of levels in the game, particularly in the later worlds, that are specifically designed to penalize the player if they attempt to just charge through them. If you try rushing through say, T'leth, Palace of Dark Delight, Lair of the Leviathan, or oh ye gods, The Minefield, you're going to get a lot of game overs.

I'm going to stop now before this starts sounding like a lecture of some sort.

Go forth, and read from the Book of Gord. Bask in the wisdom and glory that is The Gord.

Lol thanks man, yeah i tend to take a head on approach to almost everygame i play, is some situations it works out, in others like you pointed out.... not so much lol. In my newer vids that i just posted i started playing other characters like mario so that i would slow down a bit, i still tend to get ahead of myself but im getting better lol. I have been noticing secrets lately and i think thats the main reason i have started to slow down. I think mainly the reason i just bum rush the stages is becuase i ususally dont play the game when im not recording, but now that classes are over ive had more time to actually play the game. I hope you continue to watch lol, i have actually gotten better at it  :coy:

Watched the first four episodes for v 0.5

Noticed that you don't really seem to collect stuff or explore very much. If you do that you'll probably have more lives. (Provided you want them... We enjoy collecting 1 ups)

Found watching you play "boo's mansion" painfully funny... it took you some time to notice the fine details regarding the path the get through the level, but you eventually managed to figure it out.

However, you didn't seem to realize that while on the brick-snake, turning your backs on the first two boos basically gave them an unnecessary invitation to knock you off the snake.

Lastly, wondering why you didn't collect more red coins (for example, the one above you on the brick-snake in B'sM... did you not realize that it consisted of a red one?) At the time did you not understand the red coin system? (you didn't seem to make the connection between the red coins and the prize towards the end of the grassland outpost... you know the spinning ring of red flowers that you didn't "trust" intially? : D

edit: fixed intially lol

LOL! thanks man, yeah i try to be funny and keep people entertained, but more recently i have bee ntrying to get more serious with the LP's and yeah i understood the red coin system.... i just wanted to pass the stage XD i think the main reason i try and speed through levels is because  i thought alot of people would get impatient and wonder why it was taking me so long to finish the levels, but now since its welcomed i guess ill spend more time exploring and collecting lol, thanks for the feedback! and shodian explained the flower circles on one of my vids to me  XD lol

Yeah, could see how that could happen but personally would wait until anyone gave you any feedback before altering your play-style to cater to viewers (when intially starting the LP, we mean)

No problem, thanks for making the LP.

And yeah, think some more exploration could enrich the playthrough... ultimately, though, it boils down to how you like to play the game though. ; )
