MKF General Discussion Posting Guidelines

1.) READ THE FAQ BEFORE POSTING. If you have a question about MKF in general, chances are it is answered in the FAQ.

2.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW CHARACTERS. MKF already has so many characters planned, plus a whole lot more that are unfinished.

3.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW ENEMIES. As of July 2010, the MKF Dev team is focused on getting the game done, not adding any more unnecessary extra enemies.

4.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW GAME FEATURES. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO: POWER-UPS, SUITS, LEVELS, AND GAME MODES. As noted above, the team is focused on getting the game done.

5.) DO NOT POST BUG REPORTS HERE. The MKF Bug Tracker is the place to do so.

6.)DO NOT ASK ABOUT RELEASE DATES FOR THE NEXT VERSION. We do not give out release dates. Why? If we announce a date and we miss it, people will get disappointed. New versions will be released as they get done.

Any post that contains any of these things will be binned on sight.

Charged Fireballs

It's possible this was discussed before and I missed it, but . . . Why don't Mario and Luigi have charged fireballs any more in v0.5?

my guess is they just interfered with aspects of the game, (such as when you want to pick up an enemy) , and it probably makes more sense for other power ups (such as the megaman suit) to have the charged shot rather than the fire flowers also having it.
My characters have no relation to Veggie Tales... just because some of them lack limbs does not mean they are related, inspired by, or knockoffs of Veggie Tales.

what? what shameless plug? I don't see a shameless plug!

They were removed because the Fire Flower is supposed to be the lowest tier power up in the game and with the charged fireballs you could take out a lot of enemies and get higher DPS than you should.

So power ups have "tiers" now? I would have actually found the charged fireballs useful considering the overall difficulty of some levels and bosses in the game (and more levels to come). could you at least tell us what power ups are strongest?

Well, I thought the charged fireballs were pretty cool, but if you had a reason, then okay.  I just wanted to know what it was.

I think the Hammer Suit is generally the best in terms of raw power, but the Mega Man Suit and Sci-Fi Suit sometimes have better DPS.  Though for Wario and Roll, you should reverse the Hammer and Sci-Fi Suits.

Actually that's not quite correct. According to Obreck, the charged fireballs were originally implemented because the Bros needed a little extra something to help put them on par with the other characters. Then we decided to go and give them extra suits to help bridge the gap, and with those added, the charged fireballs became sort of redundant.
I do agree with Del, though- the way those were set up it was real easy to pump out a near-constant stream of those things and just tear through everything in your path.

Go forth, and read from the Book of Gord. Bask in the wisdom and glory that is The Gord.

That was another of the reasons they were removed, but not the only one, if it had been decided like that, they would've been cut before 0.41 when we added the Duke/Marco and Guile suits; I remember we had a discussion after 0.41 was out about keeping or removing the fireballs and all of the arguments mentioned in this topic were considered, in the end they were cut.

Eh, same thing, they're gone and won't come back, the bros. don't need them, they were OP.

Just another question, you don't think anymore suits or power ups need to be nerfed, do you?

You could charge fireballs? I never actually noticed that.

Speaking of cut features, I always found it fun when Megamario's charge shot caused him to recoil... even midjump giving skilled players a bit of a boost over large jumps!  B)

Of course that also lead to the problem where you had to not shoot where you didn't want to... since run and shoot was the same button... :(
