MKF General Discussion Posting Guidelines

1.) READ THE FAQ BEFORE POSTING. If you have a question about MKF in general, chances are it is answered in the FAQ.

2.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW CHARACTERS. MKF already has so many characters planned, plus a whole lot more that are unfinished.

3.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW ENEMIES. As of July 2010, the MKF Dev team is focused on getting the game done, not adding any more unnecessary extra enemies.

4.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW GAME FEATURES. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO: POWER-UPS, SUITS, LEVELS, AND GAME MODES. As noted above, the team is focused on getting the game done.

5.) DO NOT POST BUG REPORTS HERE. The MKF Bug Tracker is the place to do so.

6.)DO NOT ASK ABOUT RELEASE DATES FOR THE NEXT VERSION. We do not give out release dates. Why? If we announce a date and we miss it, people will get disappointed. New versions will be released as they get done.

Any post that contains any of these things will be binned on sight.

A spanish Let's Play?
« on: April 03, 2012, 06:04:21 AM »
Yes, and yes. I´m starting a Let's Play of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion v0.5 beta, but not in english, in spanish (my natural language is spanish). I believe im there isnt a video made by an spanish speaker, or at least one where the one speaking is spanish, so I believe that this will be good to try to attract more people to this phenomena.
Here are the first two parts of the gameplay:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JConRImMRMs" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JConRImMRMs</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOwXGEGl4qI" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOwXGEGl4qI</a>

By the way, do you recommend me a video recording program for Mushroom Kingdom Fusion? Because, as you might see in the last part of the video, i was using Camstudio. That one was the best I could found.
I tried with Bandicam, but it lagged the game in an epic way that was pretty horrible. Then I tried with SnagIt, and it was pretty good, until the recorded video were saving...to-heavy-videos (1 gb=2 minutes of recording? The hell?). Then I give it a shot with Camtasia, but it was the same thing. Then the last one I tried was Camstudio. It lagged the video, but not the game, and it was still too heavy (1 gb=16 mins), but it was the best I could use (and with some converting, that 1 gb lowered to 200 mb). And yes, I tried using different video compressing codecs, even the DivX, but that one didn´t work (when I tried to record, there was a message window saying that something wont open, or that there was a failure). The only codec that worked the best way (but not the way i wished) was the Techsmith codec. Unless I dont get a better way to record and convert videos, Im afraid that I can only upload 2 or even 1 video per day.

I'm glad I can understand spanish haha.

Try hypercam 3, it's free and one of the most resource friendly recorders, the bad thing about it is, it only saves files as .avi which are large, but you can edit them using csmtasia later or something to convert them into smaller files like .mp4 or .mov

Edit: I noticed you are recording at full screen, if you record a smaller area it goes much faster, try playing the game in smaller windowed mode.

IIRC Fraps forces you to record fullscreen, so hypercam is probably a better choice.

It seems like a nice LP and all, I just really wish I could understand what was being said.

I use Camtasia Studio 7, but you could do this to make the gameplay more smooth.

1.Record at 960x720 and have the MKF window as small as it could be (The smallest window when pressing F7). This makes it so that the game goes at the highest fps rate (for me, 60)

2.You're going to need the program VirtualDub: http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/

3.Go to Video, Filters, press "Add..." and choose "Null Transform," then press Ok

4.With the filter chosen, press cropping

5.Now move the values of y1, y2, x1, and x2 to surround the game window, this will make it only show the game and not anything around it

6.Zoom into it wtih a video editing software or increase it to 960x720 in VirtualDub

              VirtualDub Resizing

              1. Add a filter, choose "resize," press Ok

2.You should get a filter resize window, in "New size" (on top) choose "Absolute (pixels)" and
                 make the size 960x720

7.Now that this is done, go to File, click "Save as AVI...," save it, and do what you want to it!

Note that longer videos may take longer to save, so you're going to need to be patient.

Sadly I don't speak Spanish, but I hope for the best on your Let's Play, it's going to be a long one :)

Alright, guys, parts 3,4 and 5 uploaded:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VQWgS9tr54" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VQWgS9tr54</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQYYnw3_9Qc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQYYnw3_9Qc</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8jXd3dpRps" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8jXd3dpRps</a>

I know, now that I fixed the lag in the video, there is an issue with the volume of the audio...meh, you can´t never get what you want. Either is a configuration problem with my mic (by the way, im using the mic implemented in my Webcam, because I dont have other mic that works as good as this one), or I need to speak louder.

I noticed you said you can only upload 15 minutes per video, but your YouTube account is from 2009, did you never get that e-mail from them saying you can upload unlimited length videos or is it on purpose? your LP will be way too long if you upload 15 minutes episodes only

Now that I check again more carefully, it actually says that I can upload more than 15 minutes per video. I thought that it said less than 15 minutes. Bleh...at least I can record more in one sweep (that is the correct term?).

Dunno how we missed that issue with the giant spiny. Seems the big spinies were programmed to turn around when they hit another enemy, but the big bob-ombs weren't. So the bob-omb just kept walking and forced the spiny to walk into the wall. I've set the big spinies to only turn around when they run into walls now.

In your second video... I don't wanna sound rude or anything, but it seemed like you didn't really know how to play as Simon all that well. He's got several new abilities that would have made that battle with General Guy a lot easier had you used them. You can always check the new instruction manual in the main folder to learn about the characters' moves and powerups.

Go forth, and read from the Book of Gord. Bask in the wisdom and glory that is The Gord.

Sorry for not uploading videos for some time. I had a problem when I tried to record videos of 30 minutes or a bit less, it seems that I can only record videos who doesnt get pass of 2 GB, and a 30 minutes video obviously was of more than 2 GB. But, lets stop with my problems, here is the main thing:

But, lets stop with my problems, here is the main thing:

This is another problem that can be fixed with the power of VirtualDub!

1.Download and install the Xvid Codec: http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.15.0.html

2.Load the finished 2GB video into VirtualDub

3.Go to Video, then click "Compression..."

4.Go through the list until you see "Xvid MPEG-4 Codec," click this, then hit Ok

5.Now go to file, click "Save as AVI," and save it

This made my 1.86GB MKF Challenge - No Fighting, No Greed video which was about 4 minutes long only 41.9MB and everything still came out great!

Here it comes...an entire hour with your favorite LPlayer Juanbro:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6v2H1VHT6I" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6v2H1VHT6I</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jXbJ9JtCOo" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jXbJ9JtCOo</a>

Be careful in the audio in this one, because, when i was using Arthur and entered a level, the intro song had a glitch and repeated itself like 3 times, but the second one was noisy and can be irritating. This happens in 11:00, 14:05 and 17:00, be careful.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kve_INwiQdc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kve_INwiQdc</a>

And, I know you are laughing so hard because my several failures at Sky Scurry with Mario...meh, but I dont care, that's the point of this Let's Play, isn't it?
