I was actually thinking. How can mkfusion get more popular. The only way anyone would find out about this game is doing very dense internet surfing. I think we should come up with ways to tell the world about this awesome game !!
I think most of that can actually wait until it's done.  This is still a beta, after all.

I think gaining popularity is the last thing the dev team should be worried about. Right now getting this game done is a first priority for them. Besides if they DID gain some popularity now while the game is still in it's beta stages lots of noobs would dash in here making suggestions and asking for release dates etc. left and right.

So yeah I think it's best this game is still under the hat until the game is complete.

Wow I guess you really are right I guess I never thought of that. I just quickly posted that without thinking of the outcome and i just thought that a great game like this deserves more.

And get us shut down? I'd stick to LP's for the sake of the game's lifespan.

Yeah, I think some people have gotten bad impressions of the game from playing its buggy, unfinished state.  Hopefully this should be less of a problem for v0.5, since it's being beta tested six ways to Wednesday, but it's probably still better to wait until the game is actually done.

Seeing how it's been six weeks there is no doubt the game is very well polished now.

With little lag and bugs this may get hope restored for MKF. This beta should also hold ppl down for a VERY long time too due to big updates and the game being polished.  ^_^

A big reason why it's taking so long to beta test 0.5 is because of testing all the levels with all 20 or so playable characters. Don't think that when 0.5 is finally released, it's going to be bug free. The general public will find problems that the Beta Testers will miss.

The number of characters was not a factor in the time it's taking to find and fix glitches, in fact, we told the testers to test whatever levels they wanted with any character they wanted too, just reporting all the glitches they saw. There are many characters yeah, but they only interact with enemies through stomps, spin-dashes, projectiles, and when you get hurt, so testing each level with each character is not necessary. Also most of the character-specific glitches, i.e. some of their special moves or suits not working correctly, can be found using said character in almost any level. Glitches happening with specific characters in specific levels are very rare.

The testers finished testing the game more than a month ago, in fact, and Aura already fixed most of the glitches found, but there were a couple very serious glitches that required more time, and he has been busy lately too. As soon as he gets time, we will start phase 2 of testing (which should be really quick), and then Lars will fix the last remaining glitches found, plus a few other details. It should be released after that if everything goes well.

And yeah, it will not be 100% bug-free, but we're trying to polish it as much as possible, and trying to get rid of all of the fatal, game-breaking glitches at least, those are the ones we should worry about since they have the potential of making the players' experience with the game very annoying.

Yeah unfortunately i dont think mkf will ever be bug free 100% not to sound negative or anything like that.

Yeah, as Del has said it's been so long mostly because the person with the source has been rather busy IRL lately. The one main drawback of our work is that while we have a whole team of Devs, only one person can work on the Master Source at a time. This can cause some delays when something comes up IRL for someone with Source duty, but they aren't able to pass on the source to another Dev for whatever reason (or simply vanish for a long period of time... *cough*Shodian*cough*). What people seem to keep forgetting is that this is only a hobby for us; working on MKF is great and all, but rule number one for us is that real life comes first. If it ends up delaying the project a bit, then so be it- there's not really anything we can do about it.

Maybe not, but damned if we don't try to come as close as a possibly can. I'm sure that even after we finally release v1.0 we'll still have a few minor updates afterwards to knock out any last bugs that might crop up, or to make any last tweaks or adjustments, etc.
And of course even then we'll still have the occasional gaggle of tards that crop up decrying a list of horrible "glitches" that are really just ridiculous nitpicks, but that's pretty much a completely different matter.

Go forth, and read from the Book of Gord. Bask in the wisdom and glory that is The Gord.

well of course and HOPEFULLY the remaining glitches will not be totally terrible ones that mess up computers. And of course we all know 0.5 will not disappoint ;) .

As long as all the critical and/or obvious bugs are fixed, I'll be happy.  Though I'm sure the beta testers have found quite a few minor, subtle ones as well.
