MKF General Discussion Posting Guidelines

1.) READ THE FAQ BEFORE POSTING. If you have a question about MKF in general, chances are it is answered in the FAQ.

2.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW CHARACTERS. MKF already has so many characters planned, plus a whole lot more that are unfinished.

3.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW ENEMIES. As of July 2010, the MKF Dev team is focused on getting the game done, not adding any more unnecessary extra enemies.

4.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW GAME FEATURES. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO: POWER-UPS, SUITS, LEVELS, AND GAME MODES. As noted above, the team is focused on getting the game done.

5.) DO NOT POST BUG REPORTS HERE. The MKF Bug Tracker is the place to do so.

6.)DO NOT ASK ABOUT RELEASE DATES FOR THE NEXT VERSION. We do not give out release dates. Why? If we announce a date and we miss it, people will get disappointed. New versions will be released as they get done.

Any post that contains any of these things will be binned on sight.

How to port to Android device?
« on: January 01, 2012, 02:19:35 pm »
Hello, before I start, this is not a suggestion, this is a question. I could not find the answer in the FAQ, so I am posting it here, since I could not find it anywhere else in the forums at all to post this.

Now this is my question:

Is there ANY solitary solution to port this game to an Android device of most kinds? There's a recently released Chinese Android console called "Yinlips YDP-G18", which runs on Android 2.2 (I think newer versions that are coming out this year run on 2.3 where I found it, I'm not really sure about this yet, but I'll get back to here if I could find out.) It's basically a Android PS Vita clone that runs on a Single Core 1.2GHz Processor (Compared to Vita's Dual Core), and if the settings are correct, it can actually run games perfectly that couldn't run on other portable consoles. More information here:

http://www.yinlips.com/en/news/detail.aspx?v=558

Here's a video showing the games it can run, including Mode 7 games like Star Fox. You have to watch the ENTIRE video to see how powerful this console is.

I'm still trying to find a store that sells this that isn't in Chinese. So far, iShareGifts sells this, but they are currently out of stock, but they are going to have more in stock around the 10th this month.

Now, as a very powerful Android device, would the Hello Engine 3 (or 4, for Super Mario Fusion Revived) be able to run on this device with the right settings modified for MKF, or would it not be compatible? I heard that Game Maker games could run on iOS devices, so could they run on Android, such as this game in general?

Thank you for your help, if it is received.

None of us have any experience with Android, so we cannot say if you can run GM games on it. This is something Android users have to figure out on their own.

I don't know about the GM games' performance in such devices, but MKF is probably the fattest GM-made game ever lol.

And yeah, we don't have any experience with such things, you should probably post this in the YoYo Games forums or something, where they discuss GM related stuff.

Ah, crud. >:( I had asked this because my laptop sucks at playing MKF, and SMFR is a lot better, but it have lag spikes.

If I find out a way how to port this game to Android devices flawlessly, would you, the development team, give me permission to do so? The only things I would change is the button mapping and that would be it. Nothing else would be edited, unless if necessary, such as the framerate n' stuff.

There is a Game Maker Mobile. It might be worth looking into, especially if standard GM games can be ported to it.

Although GM games have been ported to Android, MKF is a whole different ball game. I'll list the reasons on why I think MKF on Android will never happen:

1. MKF is extremely large.
2. MKF requires a strong PC, even though developers are trying to optimize the game.
3. MKF uses DLLs and extensions that are designed for Windows PCs. Replacements (if they exist) will need to be found for Androids.
4. All GM games on Android are commercial games--that is, they are sold for the author's and YoYo Games's profit. MKF is necessarily non-profit, because selling copies of it would give several companies good reason to shut us down.

Yeahhhh... not happening.
