Technically, I have 13 rooms completed for Ceres Station (intro, elevator chamber, and even boss arena), but considering how I plan on each station having between 8-10 rooms, that means I am only 20% complete.
That . . . sounds like a lot of rooms.  How big are they?

don't make so many for each section, only 4 or 5 small sized ones for each should be enough; Zebes had 40 and it's already massive, we don't want another one like that

You need to be careful with the size of your rooms. Big rooms will lag once they are merged into the master source, even if they don't lag in the dev kit. Don't even make them as big as the biggest fire temple room - that one lags in the dev kit.

Well, here's the technical standpoint to help avoid any confusion: I'm using my FOD approach to Ceres Station.  What that means is that the rooms themselves won't be massive, and because there are multiple areas, those rooms won't need to be big.  They'll just have to rely on warping know-how, and I actually coded a simple variant for FOD all by myself.

For example, the elevator area is actually five rooms; one for each elevator and the entrance in the middle.  This'll help out in laying down the aesthetics of the station, so you don't get the idea of rooms overlapping (they really don't, but that's what I'm trying to get at).  The size of those rooms is actually 320x480.  I doubt that'll cause any lag.

In my FOD files, the largest room size I generally use is 640x480.  Basically, when I'm going to end up with 30-40 rooms (hopefully around 30), don't expect them to be mammoth, because I know the perils of extra-large rooms.  Plus, I only have to worry about laying out the flow of the rooms as far as exits go, so I don't have to spend so much time filling in tiny details into a massive antechamber.

I hope I erased some fears with what I just said.
