I'm about halfway done with the first phase of Hydrocity.  Of course, it's merely laying out the platforms, so there is no aesthetics involved yet.

I'm going to ask a pretty dumb question, but if the spritesheet was edited, how would you guys feel about an Agent M skin for Link?
You don't need our approval to make a skin.  Go wild!

Heck, you wouldn't even be the first person to make a skin with an original character.

Alrighty.  I just wanted to make sure.  Of course, I need to figure out what Agent M's remaining power-ups should be (Blaster Master, Unggoy, Jill Valentine, and Fusion Suit are already done... so I just need the Mega Man Powerup).

I have a stage request, as well.  I think we should try and have a Game Gear stage for Mobius, and I decided to have a stage that combines two stages from Sonic Chaos: Sleeping Egg Zone and Aqua Planet Zone.  I have dubbed the stage "Sleeping Planet Zone".  Here's some progress.

I have done Sonic stages and failed to complete them, but I made it too hard on myself.  The Game Gear stages were simpler in design, and I actually have ideas to make them challenging without bogging down MKF.  Plus I always liked Sleeping Egg Zone for Robotnik's self-grafitifying figures etched into the structures.

However, I am not sure about using the stage's knack for destroyable blocks.

Well, I approve of using the 8-bit Sonic games (we already have Bridge Zone, after all).  I can't really tell much from just those screenshots, but the concept appears to be sound.  As for destroyable blocks, I don't recall MKF having any levels specifically oriented around those yet, and it could probably be implemented without too much trouble by tweaking the Brick Block code, so I think that would be an acceptable direction for this stage.

I really don't have exact plans for destroyable blocks, as there really wasn't that much incentive in Sonic Chaos, but rather that it was a neat tidbit.  But it could help reveal 1-Ups and even a secret exit.

Those screenshots only illustrate the beginning portion of Sleeping Egg Zone's part of the stage.  The one thing I would like to see is somebody try and update the music from "Chaos", because right now, I'm using Aquatic Ruin Zone as the BGM.

I just need the Mega Man Powerup.
I think I saw a video of Mega Man X8 that had a female character who used a sword. Maybe you could use her?

I have done Sonic stages and failed to complete them, but I made it too hard on myself.
Does that mean you're abandoning Hydrocity?

Alright... JDog, I have good news and bad news for you.

The good news is, we already have the breakable Sonic-style blocks in the game- in fact they're in the Dev Source. They're already used in a couple levels.
The bad news is... You should know better than to try and work a new level onto the list at this point, JDog. Not even the Dev Team can just up and add a new level to the list anymore (Minus World excluded), we're already well past that point.
You're welcome to keep working on it as sort of an "unofficial" level (god knows I'm probably going to have a small pile of those myself), but unfortunately I'm going to have to shoot down your plans of getting it into the actual game. Sorry.

Go forth, and read from the Book of Gord. Bask in the wisdom and glory that is The Gord.

Unless we can add these later on after the final game as a kind of expansion, similarly to DLCs of the Assassin's Creed, Total War and Elder Scrolls franchises.

<Preachy mode> Hey let's not get too hyper on what to add in the future, Cambridge. Keep in mind that these guys stopped taking in suggestions so that stuff can get done. Too many suggestions and the fusion team will be here until doomsday completing this masterpeice. Heck at one point the code ended almost a broken mess (can't exactly vouch for that myself but still). </preachy mode>
Apart from that,  I look forward to your Agent M skin for MKF in which I hope to utilise in the very near future.
And yes, I currently have a stock picture of Freddy Mercury as an avatar - he's cool man, don't diss Queen.

Skins WIP by AussiePortal:
None at present due to inactivity and or lack of organization and or Probably lost them due to incidents that have been happening throughout the year. Sorry.

...What's with all the doomsday chanting?

JDog isn't in the development team.  JDog could just as easily be not contributing anything at all.  Assuming that JDog's fine with the level having to wait for an expansion, there's absolutely no negative.  It's not as if delaying Hydrocity Zone will hold up MKF, or at least, at the moment.

@ Magnemania: Sorry about harping on about doomsday, it's just that if we do keep on adding features. Long story short MKF will never get done.
That said if Jdogindy still wants to create some levels that aren't going to added in - that's his business, I'm not going to dictate who does what.

I'm just a lowly member give me a go.

That's okay.  Thanks for letting me know.  I'll still work on the Sleeping Planet Zone stage, but I am going to work on Hydrocity more, as I've been a little lax on that stage for the past couple of days.  But, I just need to work on the aesthetics of the first part, and then I'll be done with that room.

Of course, maybe we'll end up with a few excess stages that perhaps we can add as future expansion stages if we decide to add on a few extra details for MKF.  That's why I'm making that stage.

Hmm... Well, now that I think about it, I think Hydrocity Zone might be a rather tough level to pull off in MKF, given almost none of the level gimmicks would really work with MKF's gameplay. Which means that unless you manage to get creative with it, you might end up with just sort of a "hollowed out" version of the original. I'm not sure if that's what you had in mind or not, though.

Anyway, three of the level's enemies have already been coded, you'll need to contact Gladia in order to get those from his Ecco's Ocean source.
And I found a decent remix that should work pretty well for the level:

I see no reason we couldn't use the original "act 2" version.

I think that we might end up with a "hollowed out" version of Hydrocity, but it is due to the fact that so many stage mechanics can't translate.

That doesn't mean we can't make a good stage out of it.  Basically, Mobius needs an aquatic stage, and I think I can make one that can be effective.  I'll try and contact Gladia about those resources.
