Castlevania: Rondo of Equines (planning, storylining)

Welp, I guess I'll take advantage of this new board, with a polished up idea.

Castlevania: Rondo of Equines

STEP INTO THE SHADOWS OF THE
HELL HOUSE
YOU'VE ARRIVED BACK HERE AT
TRANSYLVANIA ON BUSINESS:
TO DESTROY FOREVER THE CURSE
OF THE EVIL COUNT, DRACULA.

It's been many months since those months. In that time, Dracula's servants, Carmilla and Olrox, were attempting to resurrect Dracula in a place with enough darkness that he could thrive, yet somewhere far away from the Belmonts, especially Simon (that jerk would resurrect Dracula to kill the count himself, that prick!). They had found the perfect spot, a world barely known to anything at this time, and a place far in the future...

Equestria.

However, they made their first mistake when they arrived, attempting to kidnap the Elements of Harmony. Since Pinkie Pie is too much of a gaming pony (and has the Pinkie Sense), and Twilight mysteriously gains a whip suspiciously exactly like Vampire Killer, they were able to not get captured, and in fact, were capable of charging forth, following the footsteps of the creatures of the night, save their friends, and get the hay away from Castlevania! But it's just not that simple.

Now, the game itself is rather simple. There's two parts, Classicvania, and Metroidvania.

Here's each of the difficulties, if you REALLY want it. You gain new difficulties by beating the one under it [no need for perfection] (with everything under Element of Harmony available at the start)

DIFFICULTY

Foal mode: Super Easy. Enemies are really simple, bosses are neutered, and you take 1/4 damage. Why are you playing this? Oh that's right. You died 15 times in a row on Filly Mode and now you're forced to play this!

Filly: Easy. Enemies are somewhat simple, as are the bosses, and you take 1/2 damage.

Mare: Normal: Enemies and Bosses use their normal attack pattern, and you take full damage.

Element of Harmony: Hard: Nothing new, except the attacks from the enemies are more dangerous. The pattern's the same though. You take 2x damage though.

Princess: Super Hard: Nothing changes, other than the attacks getting more dangerous, and the damage is ramped up to 4x.

Discord: Nightmare, but scarier. Bosses add more moves to their patterns and you take 8x damage. Oddly, you regain health upgrades.

Grogar: Discord mode, but you now take 16x damage. Oddly, the bosses don't change a bit other than damage.

Trollestia: Enemies are mini bosses, mini bosses are bosses, bosses are secret bosses, and you don't WANT to know what the secret bosses are like. Even worse, you take 32x damage!

CHARACTERS

You get the Mane Six as the main characters, and each of them are being a rather well-known character template.

In order of appearance, are the following:

Twilight Sparkle: She plays like Simon Belmont, Super Castlevania IV style, due to the weakening of her magic. She can whip in all directions, she can slide, she can drop kick, and she can twirl her whip. Unlike Simon, however, her sub items adapt to her as well, being aimable just like her whip. She cannot use Item Crashes, and her acrobatic capabilities are lacking (though, like Pinkie, she can control her aerial movement at the start of the game).  Like Shanoa in Harmony of Despair, Twilight gains some moves by landing the killing blow on bosses, placed onto a Personal Action button. Through the pause menu, she can switch between the moves at will, and some moves are moves used by other characters, such as Julius's Omnias Vanitas or Applejack's Dark Inferno. Her versions are generally inferior to the other characters, however. She also has access to the Tome of Genesis, which is basically the Bible's item crash, but aimable. Still uses 20 hearts to use.

Pinkie Pie: She plays like Richter Belmont, SoTN style (she even is wearing Richter's RoB outfit!) and she has many acrobatic options, Item Crashes, and she has control over her aerial movement. She lacks aiming, like Twilight's Simon moveset, but this isn't much of an issue for Richter's physical superiority. She even has a whip, like Richter! Pinkie's Personal Action is her Martial Arts abilities. To use Item Crashes, it's the same combination as Symphony of the Night, but using the Sub Item button. She also has her own unique items, such as...

Party Cannon: Shoots in a curve, so that it can go over obstacles that the knife cannot. Has the Party Artillery item crash, pounding the stage with cannon ball fire.

Creampie: Don't. Freakin'. Ask. It deals dark damage, giving Pinkie an edge versus holy enemies. Its item crash is the 1,000 Pies.

Balloon: Goes straight up. She can do an instant party as her item crash, dropping all sorts of diabetus-causing goodies to be devoured by the enemy.

Rainbow Dash: She plays like Grant DaNasty (or Grant Danasty if you REALLY are that much of a stickler), who is full of awesome. She can sneak about on walls and ceilings, thanks to her athletics, though she uses her wings to help her out, and she can double jump! Best of all, she gains an advantage from Richter's moveset, Item Crashing! She's far more vulnerable than Pinkie and Twilight, however, and as such, it is unwise to let her get hit. She uses her hooves as her weapon. Her personal action is her flight. She can only fly for a limited time, but it's worth it. She also has two items of her own.

Lightning Strike: A forked projectile strikes several foes in front of her. Allows her to call a lightning storm for the item crash.

Scapel: This is similar to the knife, but is larger, and sticks inside of the opponent, causing a bleed. Her item crash creates a rip in space, pouring out acidic blood to defeat the forces of darkness.

Fluttershy: She plays like Maria Renard, thanks to her love of animals. For those of us US people who never got a chance to play as Maria, this is how it goes; she runs around, her doves attack for her acting as boomerangs (that's her standard attack, mind you), uses celestial guardians as subweapons, and she's disturbingly damaging against bosses and enemies alike. To balance this, she's even worse at survival than Dash! Her personal action is to roll. Her wings are (temporarily) broken, due to a scuffle in the game, and she lacks flight.

Rarity: Thanks to some strange powers granted to her by Dracula, Rarity has the ability to control Souls, just like Soma. Occasionally, if you kill enemies as Rarity, you gain their soul. She can then equip them either to her personal action button, or to the quick use slots.

Applejack: Even stranger, Applejack plays like Alucard. She's not as customizable, but she still gets Alucard's spells, such as the infamous Hellfire and Dark Inferno. She fights using a sword she stole off of a vampire during her imprisonment. She uses her spells with the personal action button. She has access to Sub Items like Pinkie, Rarity, Twilight, and Dashie.

Julius Belmont: The Belmont who permanently defeated Dracula in 1999, in the real Castlevania timeline, he's come to make sure Dracula didn't revive at a time he wasn't supposed to. He's playable, but you'd need to beat the game and beat all the bosses to get him (on Mare Mode or higher). As the very best Belmont, he gets every ability of Richter and Simon, PLUS a special dodge move. Of course, since you have to EARN HIM, rather than getting him through storyline. In case of Pinkie/Twilight confusion, he uses his Omnias Vanitas dash move as his personal action. Although Twilight and Pinkie get to use it, he can hold down the button to prolong the distance. It costs mana though, so use it sparingly. On the other hand, Julius DOES have higher strength, but he lacks the ability to level up, except when defeating bosses, so search the castle for bosses you haven't beaten yet!

Getsu Fuhma: An honourable samurai, Getsu Fuhma hails from a faraway land, and he searches for evil simply to bring peace to the land, though his first quest was driven by revenge. Find him in a certain area with the things. His personal action is to spin in the air, which does damage opponents. He also has his own unique subweapons, which I will explain later.

Simon Belmont: He plays like he did in Castlevania Chronicles; ridiculously fast whipping, yet still confined to the horrors of Classicvania controls.

STAGES

Here's where you'll be going on the first half of the game.

STAGE 1: Doomed City, Ponyville under Siege
STAGE 2: The Wood of Madness, Everfree Forest
STAGE 3: The Death Mountain, Mount Dread
STAGE 4: The Journey Truly Begins, Entrance Hall
STAGE 5: Tales of Sugar and Spice, ??????? ???????
STAGE 6: Hush now, quiet now, the end is near, The Gardens of Filth
STAGE 7: The Vain Mare's Dream, Hall of Elegance
STAGE 8: What Dreams May Come, Dungeon
STAGE 9: A Heart of Fire, Torture Hall
STAGE 10: Final Stage, Bloodlines

METROIDVANIA AREAS

Still undecided. I do know that the mountain Castlevania is on this time is a volcano and you can expect a lava cavern area.

Last words (OR ARROGANT WTF DO U NEED)

Alrighty, since I fail miserably at actually attempting things in anything but Scratch, I would probably need pointers to a good Castlevania Engine, preferably on Game Maker. I could do level design and enemy placement, but I'd need help regarding the graphics for the ponies, a tileset for the pony areas, and maybe an updated look for Fuhma. I could provide concept art for the levels for those interested, and as for music, Castlevania sprites and most Castlevania tilesets, I can find these on my own.

I really don't get the pony thing.  But kudos if you get it made.  If you're looking for Castlevania engines, ask the peeps who did the CV2 remake.  Im not sure if the folks here are trying to give the SCV3 engine out yet.
I enjoy putting myself in exotic and awesome environments, then I make people play fan generated games they never knew existed.

I'm starting to wonder if he's more obsessed than Xavier Genisi.

... but, seriously, I don't like this idea. Maybe I'm biased because it feels like you want to cross ponies over with everything but the kitchen sink, or maybe it's because the whole idea is a big crack fic of dubious quality.

My friend mentions I'm more obsessed with Castlevania these days than anything. And I'll admit, this was one of my stranger ideas, but... there's worse cracks out there. In fact, one of the biggest crack fic ideas out there, became, in fact, one of the most popular MLP fanfics in the community; a bloody (metaphorically, and literally) Fallout crossover! And it made spinoffs!

But I digress. Ideas are strange, crossovers, even more so, but I believe good writing and good planning can overcome any obstacle. Fallout Equestria is a good example; well-written, despite the odd mixup, and even though I entered with little Fallout knowledge, I can say that the fan-fic is a good ride!

At the moment, since I have the storyline down (just need to actually WRITE it,) I'm focused more on gameplay and aesthetics.

Also, just an update, this is the story, and as far as I have gotten to: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B-xHMZ8yqS48Q2IwbUdmZDliSFE .
