Just a brief progress report on SCV3. Currently working on mountains side stage though not ready to show any screenshot or footage yet. And though Clocktower is a heavy wip, i can note that Grant's room has been tweaked a bit. As well as Nasty Grant himself. He is now been coded in by Lord Cyber, and needs a tiny tweak so he'll hit the floor(probably x,y coordiantes are off). Also i need to reput the blocks back in after i rework the clock itself. Well for those of you who wondered what he would look like in 16 bit(sprites courtesty of Donofrio and a few frames myself). ......I give you Nasty Grant...er...Not-so-easy-to-defeat-Grant(its' what his name should be).

You may noticed LC came up with some nifty AI for Grant!
Soon.....yes.....soon other suprises await! .....til then..my friends......have fun with the vid. Hope you enjoy! ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Nasty Grant: Now with 50% more nasty! This looks like an interesting fight.

No doubt it will be a challenge! Nasty grant is ...really Nasty! He doesn't bow down like he did in the Nes version. He's as possessed as he is vicious. Flinging knives at trevor as if to have target practice with. Give Lord Cyber credit. He came up with the idea for the new AI!Kudos :V

Back with another update! Though it isnt' quite finished,it is,however near completion. I've been working solidly on the Mountain Range for a bit now, so here's a view(sry bout the bad quality vid...camstudio is acting up again):
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Nxf2Lg9OHI" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Nxf2Lg9OHI</a>
Thanks to coding on the spike flipblocks and falling blocks by LC, we now have a fully working Mountain Range. Still want to add some sunset to the clouds, some hoist pulley system in the mine shaft area(maybe for props), shimmering/reflection on lake(Reiko can do it with photoshop), and adding the water at the bottom of rooms 4 and 5. I still plan to tweak room 10 aswell. I have yet to find a video that plays that area. Most people on youtube fly and skip it with alucard. The sotn bird will eventually do what it does in that game(probably just a prop). K, so this level is tough as nails. In fact....you will more or less get obliterated in room 7(from falling blocks)or room 13(blood drips). I may keep blood drips, but maybe as a prop. The falling blocks i'll probalby make hurt less(4 blocks per 1 health piece).  Still have yet to add a mid boss or the boss. Chances are....i strongly doubt you'll see any repeats here! It reminds me i need to stretch the mid boss area a bit. Well it's not far from being completely playable at this point. Figured i'd jump the gun and show ya's what i got! Enjoy! :V :V :V

I can't watch the video just now because I'm in class, but that Anatomy of a Game series I told you about on Skype had a article on this level that you may want to look at, to help decide what to keep and not to keep.

After seeing the level, then reading the article, I agree with much of what it says about the level. The vertical shaft with the falling blocks is definitely way too high.
You might also want to lower the level of the acid dissolving block stack at the beginning, too; just so the tension it attempts to convey doesn't turn into boredom.

Anyway,I found some patterns for the acid and the rock falling
In the first acid room it has two independent patterns.
In the first half of the room(from the left), it is:
00615432
and in the second half of room,it is:
71425360

where 0 means that is a space where don't fall a rock or a acid's drops, and the digits means the order where the rock/acid falls.

In the second acid room
In the first half of the room(from the left), it is:
00132456
and in the second half of room,it is:
12345000

In the first rock falling room,(from the right side of the pit):
9(11)8743(10)1526

in the vertical shaft(after the midboss),it has 2 rock falling patterns:

0(12)1(11)(10)75(14)28496(13)30

when you get close to the room's top,the pattern changes to:
000068541(11)792(10)30

In the nes version, the screen width is 256, smaller than used in the remake. So the better solution is center the rock's layout and fill the empty space with rocks.

I think some degree of entropy might help. Like, have them fall with some degree of randomness to keep it interesting, albeit with something to prevent a huge wall blocking you from doing anything. I'd say, with that, it should take up 1 full screen so it doesn't get tiresome.

(also i still need the gm file to do some level work...)

Here's a littel update. Dont  remeber if i put the mountain stage up or not yet here. But it's damn near complete. Here's  couple of Alucar'ds caves, and a slight retweak(though definelty not complete) of Dracula's Keep.

Molten Lava Caves
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZkDtlfyPzM" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZkDtlfyPzM</a>
Having some depth issues with the molten lava, has too do with some big moving backgrounds. LC said he may help out on that.

Purple Geode Caves
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkWF0Esm-tY" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkWF0Esm-tY</a>
Still wanna add a background waterfall(darker for depth reasons), and maybe some water, though not for certain. THe mummies have to be spawned too.

Drac's Keep Retweak Update
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaNTQZ0uDjg" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaNTQZ0uDjg</a>
Still plan to add Mirrors(maybe even in Drac's Room),Brauners Statue, and possibly swingin blades from cv rebirth. Also some furniture in Drac's upper keep might look nice too!
 :V enjoy!
