XFR General Discussion Posting Guidelines

BEFORE POSTING, READ THESE GUIDELINES:

1.) DO NOT POST SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW FIGHTERS. Adding new fighters to an already huge roster (over 30 as of July 15, 2011) is of the absolute lowest priority.

2.) NO NEW STAGE SUGGESTIONS. All stages to be made for XFR have been decided.


3.) There is no native gamepad/joystick support. To play XFR with your gamepad/joystick, you must run a joystick-to-keyboard emulator and configure it accordingly. Please do not make any posts about the lack of native gamepad support. This is the most effective workaround to this issue.

Any post that contains any of these things will be binned on sight.

Back before I had my head on straight, I still had visions of shmup ship fairies dancing in my head, even though the game already had 27. It was a heavy-hearted decision to trim the roster to 16, but it had to be done. Recently Obreck and I were able to agree on three more ships to bring back for the final release.

The last slot is classified.

Well we have ideas, but what will happen with that slot will be will be decided between Judgespear, me, Cook, and other informed members, For now the general fanbase should consider it blank.

It's my own custom engine built from scratch. It is not very user-friendly right now, though.

It's my own custom engine built from scratch. It is not very user-friendly right now, though.
Nah, I think, I don't need to code to much. Most of the ships, that I need, are part of the scrapped ships. Only two new characters needs to be made from scratch.
But back to on-topic, could you make a skin mod system like in MKF? I'll understand it, if it is not possible.

You know, BPzeBanshee is working on an open source SHMUP engine that you could probably use for your project.  It's listed in the Fangame Showcase here.

But to be on-topic: If you some ships don't make the cut, they still can appear in the sequel...if JudgeSpear has got plans to make a sequel, of course.

If I make a sequel, there will be even LESS ships. Quality over quantity.

Update: the E-75 has been replaced with the Zero. The E-75 was a vanity pick of mine that I felt was unneeded later on, and it was decided the Zero best fit the bill for a replacement.
