This reminds me, wasn't Bacterion going to be the World Boss in the old SHMUP World 6? Maybe someone planned putting him in this level when it was moved to W9? Eh I don't know, either way works as long as the level gets a boss, it needs one.

Yeah, he was the W6 WB when it was still a shmup world, but after it got canned, it seemed he just vanished from the ideas list.

Probably just because the list hasn't been updated, it's been inaccurate in some places several times before.

And, on an unrelated note, I think it was said somewhere that Forest of Silence was where you would first encounter Dracula, is that true or am I remembering wrong?

EDIT: yeah, it's been updated recently (Air base is on the list), just ignore the first sentence.

I've been meaning to ask: How come MKF's level list isn't as comprehensive as SMF's?

I think because JS is pretty much in control of the direction of SMF and has some pretty clear ideas on how everything will go, while MKF has a much larger creative team and is less definite.

I don't know what's so hard to understand, it's all described in the first part of the first post.

Heh, I guess I forgot Darkstone Cemetery (it also was swaped with Volkmire Inferno, making Volkmire unlockable and Darkstone mandatory, because of their difficulty and learning curve).

The main problem is we have two lists to update (there's another one with the levels that aren't revealed in here in the dev forums), so sometimes this one gets a bit left behind. Also pretty much the only reason we have this public list in here is to see if anyone outside of the dev team wants to work on any of the levels with no progress so far, and those are pretty clear too

Nope. It's just a Castlevania themed/inspired level. That's pretty much it.

I've played Kid Icarus (a lot) and I still remember clearly how 3-4 was very brain-wrecking. Ya don't mind I could take that level and try to sketch it for ya guys? (-lvl-)

Also, I'd want to work on Famicom Land, but I think it needs lots of resources and I think my view on iconic or famous Famicom-games are different from others, surely. So I think it's more ideal to work on this as a collab.

I'm not sure about Famicom Land, I think Lars Luron and Finlander started working on it or were getting resources, but I don't know, they should probably mark it as claimed if it's that way.

But the Kid Icarus one, that one I'm sure is open, and there are three enemies from that game already you can use (the reaper, the snowman and the blue snakes).

Famicom Land is taken. The public list happens to be a little bit out-of-date, so a couple levels aren't marked correctly. We're going to have to take a look at that and get it up-to-date at some point.

As for the Kid Icarus Fortress level, my brother Dr. Flard has been working on attempting to put the level together recently, with a couple interesting ideas he's run past me. Due to the rules, though, since he hasn't actually proven himself to be able to put together anything for the game yet, and doesn't have anything to show for it at all at this point, I can't officially mark it as "claimed", meaning it's technically still available.

@Divadale: At the risk of sounding rather blunt, in the future, if you're going to ask a question, at least check beforehand to see if that question was already answered earlier in the same thread you plan to ask it in.
Shanghai Showdown is clearly marked as unavailable on the list.

EDIT: I've updated the level list somewhat. I've marked off some additional details on the "unavailable" levels, such as which ones are currently claimed, and which ones are just flat-out off limits. I've also made a handful of levels available, since it no longer seems likely that the people who claimed them will be able to finish them.

Go forth, and read from the Book of Gord. Bask in the wisdom and glory that is The Gord.

You guys seem to get further and further along every time I check in. Great work.

6-S2: Clash on the Big Bridge
(A level based off of Final Fantasy VI. Will feature a battle against Kefka.)
So, this one's based on just VI? Or V and VI? The battle on the Big Bridge is actually from Final Fantasy V; long fight across the bridge with Gilgamesh being a frequent nuisance. Final Fantasy V was forgettable to some degree, but the struggle to get across is one of its memorable moments.

6-5: Fort Ozzie
Looking forward to this. Chrono Trigger always deserves some love. Is this going to be the only area to it, or will we see elements from across the game in the level?

Yeah, there's a slight mix up in the information there on the Bridge level.

Both of those stages you mentioned won't be worked on until a certain something I won't mention is worked out.  The outcome of this "something" will determine where Battle on the Big Bridge will end up on the stage list, as well as whether Fort Ozzie will exist or become a different CT stage.
