I grabbed the source earlier today. Already added the rising lava from Death Volcano.  Looks like I have a few boss choices here. I have revamped sprites for both Aquamentus and Barba (Volvagia) and a motion for Hothead. I would not want to copy the SMFR SMB2 Hothead exactly though, he's gotta be leaping out of lava.

Plus, after you deal enough damage, LA Hothead would split open to reveal his "weaker" form, but whenever it would enter the lava, more fireballs (Podobos or smaller flames) would come out than beforehand.

Anyway, in case anyone also noticed, I did go out of my way for a head-start on the other Switch Palaces.  All I really did was duplicate the rooms and created objects for the other three switches.

the other switch palaces are already done except W2's (the green one), it already has the switch it just needs some gimmick to add in it or reuse some gimmick from W2

I suggested reusing the crash bandicoot crates to make some puzzle similar to the bonus areas in the game, or use the bouncy crates and boxes to make some bonus room similar to donkey kong country's where you used barrels to go high and take lots of bananas and prizes

I would consider the Crash Bandicoot approach.  Those bonus stages mixed prizes with hazards.

I liked those bonus stages, too.  Switch Palaces with hazards would not only be more interesting, but, I think, also more appropriate to the tone of MKF.  It can be a pretty hostile game, after all.

I'd still prefer Aquamentus for the boss. I imagine his Triple Fireballs will be a bit trickier to dodge in 2-D. Plus, anyone who doesn't have projectiles can use a Bow and Arrow "gun" to fight him (you wouldn't try to jump on a giant unicorn dragon horn, would you?).

How about the a crossbow that works like the one in Super Ghouls n' Ghosts?

Well, the tricky thing is that all three of the other switch palaces currently follow a theme with their gimmick: you hit a switch, then you have a limited amount of time to grab as much loot as you can until time runs out and you're stopped from grabbing any more.
So the Green one should have something similar- hit a switch or trigger something that has some sort of time limit, then stuff your pants with as much swag as possible until time runs out.

Go forth, and read from the Book of Gord. Bask in the wisdom and glory that is The Gord.

just a bunch of bouncy boxes (the metal ones, not the crates) with a few Nitros or TNTs to dodge would do then, using a regular P switch to make all the coins appear so you grab as many as you can, it would be a tall room like Donkey Kong Country's bonus ones; also why are we discussing this in here, lol

I was thinking more "Buster Pistol" with arrows. Unlimited arrows, of course.

by the way, EMB, you CAN build the levels you make sketches for yourself, you can get a free copy of GM8 Lite, download the dev source and put the rooms together, placing whatever enemies and objects it needs, the only thing you can't do is test the game since you can't run it without Pro, but it's not like if there's anything to test if you can't code, it's just the layout

you could've made what JDog already did with Fire Temple yourself, just not test it, you could try building Ganon's Tower too, you wouldn't be able to play it but you'd be helping the devs more with the design put into actual GM rather than just sketches, then it could be finished by a dev with Pro, who can code/merge and add the extra stuff

Well, I was under the impression that you needed Pro to even utilize the Dev Source (namely, because the download topic says you need Pro to use it). But, I'd wager a new Dev Source would be released by the time I finish my skin mods. It should have some new resources and cut down on having to ask around for stuff. I'll give Ganon's Castle a whirl at that time.

you don't need any of the new resources to make the layout, and you could always just use placeholders to indicate where to put what if certain enemy isn't in that source yet; also we don't know if we will even make a dev kit built from 0.5 yet since the source is so massive it's impractical to work in it, so if you want to try Ganon Tower, just use 0.4's dev kit, like I said, you don't need much to just make the layout; not asking you to make the whole level yourself just put the tiles and collisions in there

DARGON!!!

Here's Volvagia. I have the individual pieces and an example of his construction. The fire crest should animate and be combined with the fire effects used for things like podobos and fireballs.

Wow, what a funny coinsidence, I'm working on one myself. :D

My only issue is the tail and hair, since the tail is supposed to be animated to sway back and slam down on the player...

This looks so much better, Rukifellth.
What's that background animation for?
