« on: August 07, 2011, 09:31:56 am »
Remember my Mario Crossover "Super Mario Cave Story"? Well, it's BACK!
And here are some NEW screenies:

I will release the first beta, as soon I finish the Grassland section AND the Desert Hill section of World 1 and I know HOW to upload things.
Here's what was finished from all the levels of the first 2 sections of World 1:
Grassland:
W1-1 (Road of Begin): 100%
W1-2 (Kuribo Caverns): 99% (still needs something awesome in the "Warp Room")
W1-3 (Watery Pipes): 100%
W1-C1 (Wacky Castle): 100% (Credits to Hello for his HE5-Mouser)
W1-4 (Bit Plains): 100%
W1-5 (Subcon Valley): 95% (still needs Birdo)
W1-K1 (Doomship Armada): 99% (bugfixing)
W1-S1 (Bramble Falls): 50% (needs DKC stuff)
Desert Hill:
W1-6 (Koopa Ruins): 90%
W1-7 (Pokey Dessert): 90%
W1-K2 (Secret Pyramid): 100%
W1-S2 (Serpent Sahara): 20%

Here is the current world list:

As you can see, I still need a name for SMCS's counterpart of MKF's Gehenna. Any ideas?

Here are some concepts for secret exits, that lead to other worlds:

What do you think of it?

I concur. Where's the Cave story sprites? Where's Quote? That's the least you could do...

He said that Quote would be playable. Also, this is only the first world; I think that the rest of them are Cave Story environments, if my memory serves.

That last hill should continue behind the jar, not suddenly cut off.

I'm hoping the more Cave Story elements start to show up in the later releases.

That's part of the game; it bounces up when you step on it.

Huh. Well now I feel silly.

Birdo's voice sounds weird.

Quote is playable, there will be Cave Story references at many places, there even will be a portion of a World that ONLY contains Cave Story levels (mostly important levels), and I've seen an enemy from Cave Story in W1-K2:

Don't worry, it appaers only once in this stage (rest are classic enemies like Goombas).
However, it will appear more often in later stages.

And just because I'm curious: What engine are you basing this on? The screenshots hint at it being Hello Engine-based...

So, this game is a mash-up of "Super Mario Bros." and "Cave Story"? I can tell some of the levels in the game are going to be a shit ton of a pain to go through.

After my holiday in Egypt, I'M BACK! back for updates! But first:
@RisingManes: There WILL be some Qoute gameplay... as soon as I'll be able to code an another player. I think, I have to code all the powerups first before I code a multi-character system ala MKF.

@EmeraldMaster: It's based of Hello Engine 4, with a bit Hello Engine 5.  ;)

Now to the updates:

New stage is finished. It's the Storm Valley, a level, who explains, how thunder is created.
The Sumo Bros are creating them. Secret Pyramid has got its level layout finished, too. I also have to say that I started the work on Serpent Sahara.

I also started the work on the MegaMan Suit. That also means that one of the Worlds will be based of MegaMan.

I also want to say, that there will be vehicles, too. At the moment, only a few are official:
-Ride Tank from Metal Slug
-Ride Armor from MegaMan X
-Joe Rider (aka Item 4) from MegaMan 2

Sorry to bump, but I have a problem...
...for some reasons, there are tracks, that does play with Windows Media Player, but not if put in Game Maker. These are MP3s by the way, and I also deleted some old tracks in order to make space and tried to redownload the tracks, but the music still don't want to play...
